Would you eat dumpster donuts?

My genius sister went dumpster diving with friends last night. They went to Krispy kreame and found 20 boxes of donuts. They put the donuts in a sealed box and dump them upside down so people won’t eat them. She claims they’re perfect donuts just a little ugly. I now have 4 box of trash donuts on my clean counters 🫠

maybe if it was shipleys🤣🤣

My issue with dumpster diving is you never know WHY they were thrown away. Is it because they were old and they couldn’t sell them legally or is it because someone dropped them on the dirty floor or an employee who was ill sneezed all over them.

If people only knew…stores will toss out perfectly good food simply because it has hit its STORE expiration date or it’s not pretty. Meat, cheese, bread, home goods products, and so on. Many don’t donate it because of potential lawsuits. So it’s easier for them to toss it out. Fruits and Vegetables are one of the most tossed out foods because the store will see that it’s not VISUALLY appealing and customers won’t buy it. Even if they have attempted to mark that specific item down. Food waste is awful and can literally be eliminated but…. *im not saying you or I should eat moldy dumper food that’s been sitting in a hot bin. That’s gross. That’s how you get sick.

Do you not have like a “too good to go” with your food places over there where they sell what’s going to need to be eaten that day etc off really cheap before the store shuts etc? I’m in the UK and they have seemed to save loads of waste by doing this

I would not lol

@Jo That’d honestly be helpful because all that she got doesn’t expire until tomorrow but that makes me think there’s something wrong with it

So someone made a whole poll about not eating food from a dumpster … they’re very concerned 😅

@Tessa So here we have an app where even supermarkets etc participate, you can get a “too good to go” that even restaurants etc take part in, donut places etc and you don’t know what you will get, you pay x amount and say if your the last one collecting they just give you triple or what they have left so they don’t throw it out etc which has helped a lot , Krispy Kreme do it like half price 24 pack of donuts etc or £5 ones where they just chuck loads in a bag and you pay and go collect before close time or in the morning so it’s just after, they do it for Carvery places etc too

Is this a TikTok trend? I see it being fun for the youngsters. I'm too old for diving but if the price is right I might try one $ 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Andrea I’m literally shitting myself 😂 I can’t believe it has to be said

@Andrea its even more concerning seeing how this is the second post I’ve seen about taking food from the dumper🤔 lol

@Jo omg I have to get this app thank you for informing us about this 😭 this is so neat! No no I would not eat donuts out of a dumpster

@Dana 🦅♥️🤍💙 most food places toss out food at the end of the day, so technically it is “old” but only because they can’t sell yesterday’s doughnuts today because they won’t be at peak freshness

Idk about food, but me and family, when I was younger, would find nice things (basically dumpster diving but on the sidewalk) mainly people who were kicked out and their things in trash, or spring cleaning time in the nice part of town will toss anything (even brand new) and we'd go collect whatever we wanted.

This is gross even if sealed. You can get sick.

I would not risk getting food poisoning especially cuz I live in nyc, there’s rats and ppl throw out their garbage in the grossest ways. I worked in food service, not everything is fresh. If it’s thrown out there’s a reason.

@Ciera my point is that you don’t know though. You can’t know.

When I worked at a convenience store that had krispy kream donuts they arrived in the morning and we had to throw them out by law. We put them in bags or boxes before putting in the dumpster. They were perfectly good and we usually ended up taking some home before throwing out the rest.

Im from uk so never heard of dumpster diving is that a thing in the us? Tell me more 🫣🫣

@Georgia check YouTube, there are lots of videos.

@ᏗᏒᎥᏋᏝ🧜‍♀️ I had a couple coworkers that would do that with furniture and redo it to sell I didn’t think that was weird but food hard no 🥴

@Courtney Yeah even if it was wrapped in plastic fully taped I couldn’t do it. She claimed the dumpster was “pretty clean” but trash is trash

@Georgia apparently so which is troubling lol
