Going back to work, help

My baby girl is 6 months old and I’m a single mum living in a private rented house. At the moment I receive maternity pay, universal credit, child benefit & maintenance from her dad. I’m meant to go back to work when she is 9 months old, but I can’t really do that, being a single mum and also breastfeeding. Does anyone know if it’s possible to be on universal credit completely and not go back to work until she is around 2/3? When she can go to nursery or something. I honestly don’t know what to do. Any advice???

With you being single mum you can happily claim uc and got back to work when your little girl is in nursery, I’m currently claiming uc and I’ve asked my worker the same question and she said it’s completely upto me what I do but they don’t expect you to start looking for work till little one is 3 x

@Chelsea🫶🏼 thankyou! What if I do work so many hours, I wouldn’t get paid enough to cover bills, would they top it up with UC in that situation too do you know? X

They would top you up to whatever your entitled to though uc I use to work and be on uc at the same time and I’d be topped up to my allowance of uc x
