Usually it’s an excellent model of care. The key worker will coordinate services between the different disciplines and develop goals. They can help facilitate or recommend assessments and liaise with professionals. They also usually have cross area expertise and can provide a scope for support particularly OT.
Thank you!
It might depend on the provider and how they implement the key worker model. It may also depend on whether you do stay on the waitlist for SP and OT or whether getting access to them is based on the judgement of the key worker. You might also want to ask how that provider gives access to SP and OT once you agree to the key worker model - is it a once off or infrequent consulting type basis and if so, is the key worker also present for the session (meaning double charges for the session)?
