Toddler so active hard time with sitting to eat

My son (22 months) has always been so active and recently he’s been refusing to sit in a high chair to eat on top of going through tantrums out of nowhere. Whenever he comes home from daycare he starts throwing fit as soon as we’re inside our home. And then after he’s calm he does not want to go into his high chair. We finally let him eat in a shorter desk/chair but every bite he gets up, tries to get onto the table to stand, runs around, plays with toys, come back, take a bite, then run around…how do you teach an active kid to sit down to eat?!

My daughter does the same , take a bite then run or walk around , then again bite...no advise, sometimes she can sit for a while to eat but not often

Are you eating with them?

Yes we’re always eating with them

All of that behaviour is developmentally normal. I would just let him graze. As long as he is eating something, I don't think it matters if he sits still to do it.

I had the same issues with my son around that age. We now use a booster seat and eat all together at the table. that has significantly improved his reluctance to stay seated. :)
