@Kate I don't ever add sugar to my babies cooking, however I do give her like rusk biscuits and choose the reduced sugar option, and I give her these little heinz biscuits which I didn't realise had a lot of sugar in but I looked at the packaging properly and it does contain quite a bit of sugar. I'm aware sugar can be bad for babies development so panicked me when I saw as she does love them
I try not to give processed things with sugar in. I give fruit which is natural sugars or mix fruit into natural yoghurt to sweeten. Otherwise add a bit of cinnamon
A little bit of sugar isn’t bad for them per se, I just don’t give him a lot as he’s hyper enough without it. I tend to give him a shortbread ive baked because it’s sweet but not sugary. I haven’t tried biscotti yet but if I find a low/ sugar free recipe I’ll let you know
I give yogurt which contains some sugar
Yeah, he’s had foods that contain sugar. He doesn’t have those foods often, but I don’t worry myself silly about things like that when weaning. We’re sensible people, we know the importance of little one having a healthy, balanced and varied diet, but we also don’t mind giving other less healthy foods in moderation. We weaned our eldest the same way and he’s a fantastic eater.
Thankyou all! She eats really healthy, varied meals- just the odd snack like biscuit and flavoured natural Greek yog here and there
Fruit has sugar so frequently yes. But he's never had cake or chocolate or ice-cream. But he's had quite plain biscuits but less than even one a week
My lo has farleys rusks and normal baked beans as the only things with actual sugar not fructose from fruit, everything I make for him other than those two things have no sugar
I give usual baby biscuits and check they’re not high in sugar but general food never give sugar unless it contains natural. She had Greek yogurt mixed In with her breakfast in The mornings just no honey until after they’re a year old
When I cook food, I definitely don’t add sugar but it’s really hard when my eldest has something and the baby also wants to try. He has had things like the odd biscuit and little piece of chocolate here and there. My eldest is 4 and I’m quite lucky that he isn’t really too keen on sweet things. He hates sweets not too keen on biscuits and cakes. The only thing he tends to like is an ice pop and mint chocolate. 😂
Not suppose to until they are one year old. But she can have fruit which taste sweet x
I only give little amounts of things with sugar in. I don’t have a lot of sugary things around as I’m diabetic so don’t eat it. Baby eats what we eat and if I make a cake or custard or something it’s made with sweetener
