@ren thank you :) she's not easy to get to sleep either :)
My son also acts up once he comes home from his dads for like a few days after, he’s autistic
Transition & general change can be really hard for a lot of autistic people even beyond childhood. It definitely can get better! Especially when you’re able to figure out what type of accommodations are helpful! Sometimes a visual check list of what the day of change’s routine will look like this helpful (like breaking down each important part of the day when she’s switching between parents, into a check list where she can mark off the events as they occur) could even add a lil feelings meter at the bottom so she could point to or circle it to indicate where she’s at if words are hard
My son is 9 and we believe he has ADHD and autism. He often comes back from his dad's dysregulated. He only goes once a month so it is a disruption to his life here and he struggles to get back into our routine. We just continue to remind him of our expectations and try to keep things the same. He soon gets back into it x
I’m not diagnosed with autism but I do have BPD I remember not being able to even sleep over at my aunts I would cry in the middle of the night to go home Inconsolable. So just the fact she’s able to do that, give her some props, brave girl! I kinda thinks it’s normal to come back deregulated as well because it’s a huge adjustment yknow 🤷♀️
Not in a similar situation but as far as sleeping over anywhere else it's never been good for my daughter. Even her grandmother's house. Anything out of the norm is overwhelming for sure
