Pre-eclampsia and baby loss

I got pregnant in 2022 and it was my first baby. I thought after reaching 12 weeks I could tell everyone so I did. I didn't know what pre-eclampsia was and neither was I told the 20 month scan was so crucial. I went to my 20 week scan to be told that my baby was severely underweight and that he was only around 250g. They said it was because I had developed pre-eclampsia and it was too late to do anything about it. I had been going to the hospital during weeks 12-20 to complain about migraines and during week 14 my blood pressure was so high and the dr said he was considering putting me on medication but didn't want to. He said it was too early for this high blood pressure. He told me to go to the hospital 4 days later, which I did and when I turned up they asked me why I had come. He didn't make a follow up appointment. I was also made to feel silly when I had a migraine another time and the hospital drs told me their blood pressures were 160 and 150 and they were fine. I started being seen by fetal medicine and every week i was told my baby would die the next week. My baby held on and my 25 week scan he made it to 431g but the flow had started to reverse. We were told he had to get to 450g. I asked them to keep me in and give me magnesium shots but they refused. The next week at 26w5d during my scan my baby had no heartbeat. So i had to go home take a tablet and come back after 2 days to give birth naturally. It was the lowest moment of my life. Fast forward 8 months, they finally did an independent review into my care and admitted they made numerous mistakes and could have identified my pre-eclampsia sooner. They said a diastolic reading of over 90 means a dr has to give you medicine. Despite mine being over this the dr chose not to. They said if they had prescribed me aspirin there would have been a 60% chance of survival for my son. The hospital have told us to make a complaint to the trust and they'll support it. But it's nothing will bring my kid back. I wish someone had told me what pre-eclampsia was at 12 weeks or my initial booking appointment. Why is there such a lack of awareness for this issue when it affects so many people?

Firstly , can’t even begin to imagine the pain you went through . I am so sorry 😢 I didn’t know pre-eclampsia could be developed so quickly and honestly even you making this post is creating awareness. Again I’m so sorry , praying for your healing ❤️‍🩹

@Tracy thank you for your kind words. I had no idea what it was and didn't know I needed to watch out for it. I was super fit before pregnancy and then suddenly this happened to me. I think there needs to be even more awareness ❤️
