Take everything and then more! You don’t get 💩
They don’t provide anything!! But from experience I would say if you live near then just pack everything you think you would benefit from most - your birthday partner can always go and get more or anything you forget, you never know how long you might be in there🫶🏼
Hi. I work at Bedford Hospital. Unfortunately we don't really provide much anymore for mums/babies :( The only thing we provide are a knitted hat once baby is born and towels. If you are planning on formula feeding you will need to bring the little ready made bottles that you can buy from supermarkets (they come in packs of 6). Bring toiletries and plenty of maternity pads. When I had my babies I packed everything in 5s (vests/babygrows/underwear/muslins/etc). If for any reason you need to stay in longer remember your partner can always go home to bring in more stuff for you if needed. I would also bring a pair of cheap flipflops that you can throw away to walk to/from the shower in. I always tell ladies to bring some decent snacks with them too! ;) I would also advise for your partner to pack a bag for them (snacks/charger/drinks) etc... Feel free to message if you need any more information x
UK hosipitals don't provide anything so pack your own. I gave birth at Bedford and thankfully we didn't have to stay the night so just left after a few hours of monitoring. I needed clothes for me and baby, nappies and wipes, a blanket. If I'd stayed longer I'd have used my shower stuff.
Thank you so much for the comments! Last time I spoke to my midwife she said that new mums like to overpack and then she tells me to pack at least 30 maternity pads😂 I made a list of what is needed and it seems like I’m going abroad 😂 for nappies should I just bring a whole pack with me or grab just a few?
I would bring a small pack of them just because some babies go through nappies like they are going out of fashion 😂 I would pack 2 packs of maternity pads being honest as some women do bleed more than others. They are the only 2 things I would "overpack" on x
@Gemma i appreciate all the help, thank you! x
I think what they tend to mean by overpacking is to bring the child's entire wardrobe and mostly impractical items rather than onesies. Plus things like bringing a hairdryer (you won't care), glam makeup kit and a tonne of tea lights and speakers. Just follow the NHS list and you won't go far wrong!
I went through a whole pack of maternity pads after my waters went! So definitely recommend taking loads!x
From my experience they don’t provide much! I took nappies wipes and pre made milk packs, they will give you a hat when baby is born! Think we used 3 vests and 2 sleep suits! Take born newborn size and up to one month just in case x
