She's here!

Hi everyone , Sorry, this is a long announcement! Heidi Jaine Pearl was born on Monday via elective section due to being footling breech, supposedly SGA ( she wasnt) and me having 5 episodes of reduced movements. We had a very long and detailed discussion with the consultant at 36+3 about options with little lady and it was decided I would have a section at 37+6 unless she had gone Head down , in which case I would be induced via balloon. I was happy with this discussion and gave my informed consent after exploring every option. ( the original plan was to breech birth at term on the MLU being out of guidelines due to the GD being controlled by insulin and metformin). She actually was 6.lb 6 so not small at all for her gestation, but I'm glad we chose an elective as i wasn't confident to breech birth a footling and also her episodes of reduced movements were concerning me. The section itself was such a surreal experience. Around 12 people in the room all chatting away. Some of my birth preferences were completely ignored, they didn't use the cord tie, put a hat onto baby, and didn't give immediate skin to skin..however once she came back to me we had skin to skin while I was sewn back up and she latched on immediately, and has been a great feeder since then. She passed all her blood sugars absolutely fine. She's been worth every single GD meal, finger prick an insulin injection, and now every blood thinner jab, too 😅😅 I will say though I have never ever experienced pain like this in my life, I thought I was good with pain ( a cocodamol for labour with one of my others), and i suffer chronic pain daily as I have EDS which causes dislocations, and this has been completely unbearable. I would rather birth 10 babies in a row than experience this kind of pain again and it has sealed my decision not to have any more babies. A cesarian was my absolutely last chance saloon and although I feek it.was the right decision it is one I wish I hadn't had to make. Picture of my princess because she's beautiful 😍

The blood thinning injections are the worst aren’t they! Sorry you’re in so much pain. I think I’ve been really lucky and not had any pain at all
