Help me pick name pls!

I’m having trouble deciding between Madeline and Madelyn for my baby girl. I prefer the spelling of Madeline over Madelyn but apparently there’s some confusion with the pronunciation of that one, it can be both “mad-uh-line” or “mad-uh-Lyn”. What do you think??

I like the spelling of Madeline and the traditional pronunciation of it is Mad-uh-Lyn (type “Madeline pronunciation” into google lol) BUT in today’s world, I can see how the pronunciation can be confused with “line” at the end. I feel “Madelyn” is the more modern way to spell it I guess but my overall vote is for “Madeline”…for those confused with the pronunciation will just have to learn just as anyone else with a name that others may have a hard time pronouncing correctly

@Melanie Exactly what I think! It helps a lot to hear other mom’s opinions on the topic. Thank you.

My doughter name is Madilynne

The pronunciation of Madeline will be easy for French speakers like me, not sure about Americans but you have to correct anytime they pronounce her name wrong! My daughter name is Iyona but her "I" is pronounced as "E" in French instead of the actual "I" pronunciation in English. I didn’t want the name to loose its meaning!!! Anyway I vote for Madeline! It’s a beautiful name!!!

Madeline

Pronouncing it as mad-uh-Lyn is the French pronunciation no matter how you spell it, anyone who speaks a Spanish/french/Portuguese/italian etc would go for that pronunciation so I don’t think it’s something you can control, spell it how you like and introduce her with the intended pronunciation, anyone pronounce it the other way, it’s a simple 1 second correction

I like madelyn!

Madeline just looks right if you know what I mean
