32+ overweight mama

Hey mamas... was it harder in your 30s to carry and give birth? Or do you think this all depends on the person? I am overweight and in my 30s and sometimes i hear about it being more difficult? Let me know your experiance. I really want to try not to gain too much so i can lose after birth.. Share your experience with this too. Thank you!

Also is there truth to when parents are over 30 it can lead to health issues and autism?

Your health history matters more than your weight and age. I had my son at 34 and I was overweight when I got pregnant and I had a very easy pregnancy with no complications aside from that he was breech — which was unrelated to my weight or age. I didn’t even have any pregnancy nausea. Lots of older and larger mamas have wonderful pregnancies and easy deliveries! Don’t let anyone freak you out about that

Older parents can be at a higher risk of having a child with Down’s syndrome, but that risk kicks up more when you’re more in your late 30s. And even then, you are MUCH more likely to have a healthy baby than one with downs or any other issue. Don’t stress!

@Natalie thank you!! I feel calmer knowing this. Google can scare us so much... i am thankful there is this app we can ask real life people

I got pregnant at the age of 36 the first time we tried. I had a BMI that made me "obese". I had a relatively good pregnancy with some high blood pressure at the end but my son was born with no issues whatsoever! I gained 12lbs when pregnant and have since lost 3 stone. Being older isn't necessarily a bad thing :)

No i know lots of young moms with autistic kids

@Kenni i agree. I notice it too bur wanted to be sure if there is a higher related risk. Thank you!

@Becky definitely agree. Its actually a blessing to be preggos all 30s + but google likes to scare us 😃
