Toddler doesnt like crumbs on his fingers

So, he's fine with being messy and likes experimenting with different textures etc. But he just hates having tiny crumbs on his fingers and will shout at me to remove them. Anyone else having this at the moment? Im guessing its just because he's seeing more details now? Nothing helpful on google so thought Id ask here! TIA

Very normal! Each child is different, my nephews love to be messy when eating however both of my children can’t stand it. My daughter (age 4) will wash her hands mid way through eating if she has anything on her hands. My family say I have ‘the clean kids’ which I’m not sad about 😂. Crumbs in particular they are just noticing that they have something on their hands. My son will go and find the smallest little crumb on the floor that I can’t even see!

Its so interesting how hes happy to be covered head to toe in mud or wheetabix or whatever else but a bit of it gets on his finger and it bothers him so much. I find it hilarious when he comes to me to remove something microscopic from his fingers but not sure if I should giggle or not! Haha it is super interesting and makes sense, Ive just not really heard anyone else mention this phase

I think it’s more of the fact it’s something that can be picked off and removed so they are like ‘why’s it stuck’. And think of when it happens to us, if we have crumbs on our hands we instantly brush them off but they haven’t quite learnt the art of that

@Lauren It makes sense! Ive just never seen or heard of another child getting distressed at a crumb 😅
