Weaning worries

My LO is more than 9 months and she is still not interested in food. She sometimes will take a couple of bites but that's it. She stopped drinking as much so I'm just really worried she is not getting enough nutrients. Do you try and feed your little ones yourself with toys/distractions? Just want a bit of different methods for her to get more interested plus get more food in.

She will be getting plenty of nutrients dont worry! When my baby doesnt seem interested if its porridge I’ll pick up spoon and pretend to eat and then she’ll want it Breakfast she doesnt eat much to be honest so thats a tricky time of day

I do a mixture of spoon feeding and BLW. I know people say not to but my baby was also slow to weaning and by spoon feeding I have managed to get her to try lots of different flavours which gradually got her more interested. In the beginning she wouldn't pick up anything I put down and now increasingly she will not only pick up foods but she will take bites of everything and we're moving more and more towards BLW. She just seemed to take to it all of sudden, like overnight, so keep going, she will get there!

Mixture of spoon feeding and BLW here too. My honest advice would be try not to think too much about it. You need to give your baby interesting and tasty things to get them excited about food - if that means deviating from the books for a while, then go for it. My approach with my second has been to let him try everything I eat, and as a result, he’ll eat bloody anything. His older brother was the opposite, and in hindsight, it’s because I was too worried about getting it ‘right’ that I ended up restricting his diet unnecessarily. Have a think about pimping up the food she does like. So porridge - add chia seeds, ground nuts, fruit etc. Bolognese - add lentils, frozen spinach, green veg etc. They all get there, but keep going with variety and getting her excited to eat :)

I wanted to give her whatever I eat but I put a salt so I'm just a bit concerned about the salt intake... Or is it ok?

Watch salt and sugar for sure… can you forgo it for a while? I think as long as you’re being sensible, you can’t go far wrong

I take out a portion for her before I add salt for me and my husband.
