Any tips/suggestions..8 month old will not eat anything

I have tried having her sit with us at the dinner table, I've tried a food dummy/different foods/ textures & purees even sweet fruits. She shuts her mouth as soon as a spoon comes close. We leave food on her table to eat, but she touches it and then drops it. And she won't take the bottle or a cup.& is losing weight.please help!

You can get mats they sit on you could do that and do it just as play to see if she puts any in her mouth?

My almost 8 month old is pretty similar. She will eat tiny bits of some things but there’s not much that she has more than one minuscule amount of. Absolutely no way she will be spoon fed, but she will put the spoon in her mouth herself maybe once or twice before losing interest. I got one of the spoons with the wiggly hole in that holds the food in which seems good. All these videos online of “what my 6 month old eats in a day” with all these gourmet meals just have me baffled!

We are having the same issue 😭😭😭😭 I feel so deflated. Lately he has been sucking and chewing toast, Ella's puffed sticks and might give parsnips a go. Have you tried any crunchier textures?

@Philippa same!! I no longer watching blw shorts because it makes me feel so jealous 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Try some porridge! My friend is going through the exact same thing and all her little girl eats is porridge

My little man loves the smooth 4m+ fruit purees and any cereal/porridge but that's it. I've tried him with the 6m+ 7m+ jars, pouches etc and he's just not interested. He's not sitting up properly yet so I'm a bit apprehensive to give him too much finger food as he can't sit in a chair yet and slumps himself down when propped 😮‍💨 He barely wants milk now either. My little girl was easy she was sat up at 5m started to wean at 4.5m, she ate everything and anything, went through the stages like it was nothing. She's fussier now at 2yrs but was an easy baby so I'm at a bit of a loss too tbh. I guess we just have to keep trying. I'm trying to add things to porridge for him. He's sensitive to dairy which isn't helping things either 😮‍💨

Have you reached out to health visitor to try and get an appointment with a dietitian? We had similar issues and he's now been seen and also got an appointment with therapy because he has issues with spoon feeding and sippy cup. My boy is eating with his hands but he's been on 9% for weight since he was a couple of months old so they want him to gain a bit more. He's been prescribed with high calorie formula to put in his porridge or mix with other solids. For us we were recommended to take a week break from solids and then try again. We tried yogurt because apparently yogurt (especially banana flavour) is meant to be something that is highly likely to be accepted. For my son as well we had to dab a bit on his mouth so he could get a taste for it and then he would think about it then open his mouth for it. Also does she suck on her hands at all after touching? We were told to do things like toast with both sides buttered since he likes to suck on it and suck his fingers

Emma Hubbard you tube gives pretty good advice sorry to hear that must be stressful

Also maybe having the meal with them leaving it on high chair small enough to eat and looking away

@tati yes I have given her Ella puff crisps..she has no interest in putting it to her mouth.

@Katie this sounds tough. I get what you mean, my older one had everything we gave her and and held and put to her mouth. I've tried purees and she just ain't interested

@Sarah health visitor has said it is fine for weeks. and finally they have said to see gp, she has been on 0.4th percentile so have got an appointment with paediatrician but that's not till January. I will try bannna flavoured yoghurt she doesn't suck on her hands, just plays with the food

@Lindsay thank you I will try this
