Nursery

Nursery Hello I am a Nurse on health and care visa so my child is not eligible for neither 15hrs or 30 hrs free nursery. We don't have any concern with childcare as me and my husband are able to work around it. But i was just wondering if they are missing out on anything. I checked the price of nursery and they are so expensive. Is there anyone who didn't send their child to nursery. What do you think?

I think the main benefit of a child going to nursery is that they get to socialise with other children and adults outside of family/friends. I think it also gives them a taster of a school type environment with set times for snacks etc. If your little one is happy enough I don’t think it’ll be an issue them not going. Just might be worth doing other things to ensure they get socialised x

@Samantha Thank you. I try to take them to the play group whenever on day offs

My toddler doesn’t attend nursery and can be quite shy around other children. I think it’s good for socialising and routines but I always try to book classes, go to soft plays and the park etc to include social activities in the week. It’s helps that my sister has a toddler around the same age and he has a few cousins under 3 and they can all play together so I’m not too worried

From someone that sends thier LO to nursery 4 times a week, I would say I wish I could work around his childcare. It's been really good for his speech and he does like it as he's always doing diff activities but he's never excited to go nursery, at this age they don't really know how to play and socialise (they just play next to other children, not with them) and it's financially draining. I wouldn't be concerned about him not going to nursery. More than nursery your little one needs you and your partner, that would be my preference if i could afford not to work. Play groups is a really good idea
