I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the chance of securing a daycare spot takes well over a year. Most parents put their child on wait list as soon as they have a positive pregnancy test, and even then a lot of people don't get a spot by the time they need to return to work.
What Andrea said is 100% correct. You'll need to call and add your child to waitlist, but could take a very long time for them to get a spot.
Might be a silly question but @Andrea and @Taylor ...how are you adding them to a waiting list? Is it by calling every daycare in the area and adding them, or is there a master list? Also, do you just add them or do you have to do a visit and walkthrough before hand? Or is that after?
Please call each child care centre you are interested in and ask to be put on a waiting list
You might find better luck in home child care. Go to the peel region website to get a map of child care centres in the area you are interested in
@Nat unfortunately Toronto doesn't have a master list like some other cities do. You have to do all the legwork yourself.
Hey! Locate your area here and then register for the applicable One List. Once you register you’ll have access to all childcare providers in the area. Then, you’ll have to contact them directly/visit/sign up for their waitlists. I’m new to this too and am in Waterloo. My little guy is 4 months and I’m just starting to look now. https://www.onehsn.com/new-home-page/ssm-families/
Hi again, Thank you so much to all the mammas who replied here. your replies will really help me. Before this post, I was not aware about anything. From tomorrow, I will start working on it. Fortunately, I have few people who can help me during my working hours and my mum is coming as well to take care of him. Hoping quick response from daycare regarding enrollment. Good night to all, Thanks once again😊
@Drew Hi, Thanks for the detailed info, I have tried to signup but city of Brampton, mississauga is not in a list. So I think I have to google nearby daycare and call them. Good night.😊

Try this for peel region programs. You will have to filter for your area and the age group etc.
@Nat depends on the daycare. Some add your name to the waitlist then when a spot is available they email you to come take a tour. Most require you to take a tour first then will add you to the waiting list.
Ah ok good to know, thank you so much @Rebecca
Thanks to all of you. With the help of you all, I had applied for it and as per them, I will get response within 4-5 business days. hope for the best. you guys are the best.👍
No idea but following because I’ll be in similar shoes soon
