Switching daycare ...

So My kids currently go to this daycare in a rural area (the hood) and sometimes I get concerned about the area & I'm concerned about my kids safety and as well as inside of the daycare...I worry a lot about them being there... I have dealt with that daycare for almost 2 years, but it's been a hassle getting them there sometimes and trying to find a job around the area.. so I'm switching them to a different daycare I found in the suburbs closer to home but not a multicultural area... I'm not racist at all when I say this... So My kids are biracial and when I toured The daycare it was mostly white children.. My only concern is that my children will be the only biracial children in there and I'm a little concerned about how others may look at them or treat them. I love the new daycare though, it's so neat, clean, friendly... I like it 😁 I just hope my kids will like it and that I'm making a good decision for them. (Also my kids are not racist either, we love all) Just hope others do too. Tell me what you think đŸ€”

Kids are not inherently racist. They might observe a difference in skin color but it’s nothing more than a different color, just as hair color or eye color etc. and even then the kids rarely actually say anything about it. Unless the adults/employees are treating your children unfairly, it shouldn’t be an issue!!! I worked in daycares for over five years. I honestly wouldn’t worry about it unless you experience something at the new center that raises concerns about how your kids are being treated.

Also, there are certain “extra” licenses that require a minimum amount of varying races/ethnics represented in each classroom via posters, books, and toys so that the children are exposed to many different races even if the children themselves are not as diverse. Depending on what company this new center is, they may or may not have this.

Is there no other options? I personally wouldn’t send my kids to an all/mostly white daycare as I have very negative experiences being the 1-3 black students from k-5th grade. While children aren’t born racist they learn in no time
