Pregnancy appointments

I’m pregnant with my second but I’m really struggling with the appointments they are giving me as I already have a son and it’s so hard getting childcare plus I work 😩 I understand why he can’t come to my ultrasound scans (I have to have more because of medication I take) so I’ve got 5 scans in the next 5 months and 5 antenatal appointments. I’m not sure why I can’t take him to my antenatal clinic appointments. I managed to change one to a telephone appointment but I didn’t get a call and I looked online and it said I didn’t attend when we arranged for it to be a telephone consultation. I hate missing appointments because I work at a doctor’s surgery so I know how infuriating it can be.

Your work should allow you leave to attend your appointments. Can you not book your appointments for when you're normally in work?

Youre legally entitled to paid time off work for all antenatal appointments, so ask for them to be scheduled during work hours when your child is already in childcare

Have you explained the problem to your midwife and asked if they can allow your son at the clinic appointments? I don’t have a child yet so haven’t had to go through this myself, but when I’ve been attending appointments I’ve seen loads of other ladies arrive with their pre-school-age children x

they will most probably make me make the time up and I can’t due to childcare

I’m going to call them tomorrow and find out

it’s paid time off so they can’t make you make up the time

I believe you can take your son with you, just tell them you don't have childcare...midwife is much easier then scans, I had my daughter several times and she is not a calm baby...and I had her twice for a scans, it was really hard, but I apologized and somehow we managed to do a scan, but I had to keep her on me

they can’t make you do this, you’re entitled to time off for appointments. Pregnancy is a protected characteristic

All sorted ☺️ I spoke to the practice manager and I get 3 hours for appointments but some have over run and my manager isn’t fussed so all good 👍🏼

I was getting pretty painful period cramps and during those, I had painful lower back cramps. I had these on and off for like a few hours so from about 10:30pm to 1am?

I’ve had no show, or anything like that.

Is this braxton hicks or early labour pains?

Little girl turning herself sideways in next to me

My little girl tonight, has spun herself so she is lying sideways in her next to me, making me panic!

Is this normal at 4.5 months, do I just lie her back normally/vertically?

Labour??

I’ve had on/off mild period cramps since 9 last night, very irregular and very mild, but I just had one that woke me up. My waters haven’t gone and nor has my mucous plug… but could this be a sign that it’s close?! I’m 40+3 and desperate to meet her!

Ways to induce labor naturally

Hi All! FTM, Entering week 40 and no signs of labor, no dilation yet. Please share tips and ways to induce natural labor. Induction is already scheduled on week 41 but don’t want to go through that process.

Early waters/pre term labour?

I can’t get checked until later today unfortunately. I can’t tell if I’m leaking/starting early. I definitely think I’m having braxton hicks yesterday and today.. i have some pain in my back but she is quite low down so hoping it’s just pressure, baby was a little quieter yesterday but she’s back to more normal movements today, but my underwear just seems to get so wet, especially after going to the bathroom. And I honestly can’t work out the smell, I’m pretty sure it’s just discharge/urine leaking but there’s that worry in my mind a little. Are there any other ways to know/check if it could be the start of it all?

Groin pain?

So I’m 34 weeks with my second and for a couple days now I’ve had terrible groin pain so bad that sometimes I can’t even walk or shift a certain way or I feel like the baby is just gonna rip out of my groin… I definitely was uncomfortable towards the end with my last pregnancy but this is just absolutely awful. Is anyone else experiencing this? Or anything that helps?? It’s making it so hard to still care for a toddler when I can barely move without pain..
