Matching name styles

Do you think siblings should have matching name styles? i.e. both modern/old fashioned/unique/etc, or both ending with similar sounds like ie/ey, etc Would love to hear your thoughts/reason for yes/no in the comments 😊

I say no, I don’t think they should have but the name I’m thinking for baby number 2 does have a similar ending to my first 😂 just because I really liked the name tho 🤷‍♀️

Similar sounds no but similar vibes yes!

They don’t need to but my sons name is Arys and his sibling will have a similar name, whether they are a boy or girl 😂 all my future children’s names have been picked and they all have A’s

I don't think they HAVE to. But my daughters all have relatively unique names. I felt that since the first two did I wanted the third to. But my son has a relatively common normal name. Ravena, Kaliope, and Coralei Parker

No but my name preference means they’re very similar anyway

@Elannah my daughter’s name is Aeris! Her sister is Astreia, stuck with the A and same vibe

@Hailey super cute names! My son’s name is Arys, pronounced Air-is. If he had a sister, her name would be Amara. If he had a brother it would be Aryson.

No it drives me nuts. Just pick names you like people. They don't need to match or be similar at all.

I’ve got an Oziah and Cassandra, nicknamed Ozzy and Cassie. So again, they do sound slightly samey but I don’t think they ‘should’ sound the same

I don’t think there’s any ‘should’ about it, but I do think parents naturally gravitate to a naming style even if they don’t realise it

Thank you so much everyone, love all the opinions!

My partners little girl is called Alice & our little boy who we are having in January is going to be called Noah

i don't think sibling names NEED to be of a similar style or sound similar - it's more personal preference. i'm not keen on super matchy names for siblings - ie names that all start with the same letter or names that rhyme etc. i wouldn't do that unless it was names that i genuinely loved, not just to fit a pattern. in terms of style, i don't think they need to match - but i wouldn't pick two names that totally clashed in style. for example, one child with a classic vintage style name and one with a super modern name, with a creative spelling to make it more "unique" or whatever would feel weird me - but there isn't a right or wrong.

We went for a biblical/old school vibe, my first born boy is called Jonah and my second born girl is called Eden!

My boys are Octavio and Leonardo. I like the way it flows. If we have a daughter next, it’d be Catalina (with a K instead). If it’s a boy, maybe Armando? 😅🤷🏻‍♀️

Both of my children are named after their great-grandparents (Sylvia and Arthur). The names are of a time so seemingly match and their nicknames both end in ‘ie’ (Sylvie and Artie). It wasn’t consciously done but I don’t think they have to purposefully match. Just pick names you like.

I don’t think it’s mandatory but I’ve got a Sawyer and will be having a Harper next week and they both end in ER. I want one more baby and I’m not sure if I’ll stick to a ER ending name or something totally different

@s a r a 🥀 Catalina was almost my name lol

For me it’s just off putting if a name really stands out in a sibset. Like if the first two are June and Pearl and then all of a sudden you throw a McKayla in there, I don’t like that.
