If you had a name picked out since you were a little girl, did you use it for your kids?

I didn’t use my girls names because my husband’s friend used one of them (Florence), my husband vetoed another (Hazel), and there are a couple others that I just grew out of (Celestinia anyone?) Just curious if other’s went with their childhood choice or not!

I wanted Delilah since I was about 17/18. Had my daughter age 30 and named her Delilah 🥰

I loved the names Phoebe, Willow and Bobbi but we didn't use any of them. Husband didn't like the first 2 and Bobbi didn't flow well with our surname. Tbf I don't think she looks like any of them so worked out well 😅 x

Always thought I'd use James or Jamie & I now have a Jonah, which sorta came from nowhere when I was only 6 weeks gone. My girl name was always Katie Scarlett (I love Gone with the Wind) but it didn't even make my list when pregnant.

I always wanted to name a baby girl Scarlett. I read a book when I was about 11 with that name in and loved it since. But now we’re having a girls, although it was on the list I just can’t use it cause I feel it’s very over used amongst people I know including some chavvy people I know and it just puts me off, despite still loving the name😅 So we’re naming our girl Aurora instead 🥰

No, I always wanted to name my son Elijah but my husband hates it 😂. Maybe it will be a middle name if we have another son

@Sara really!? I’ve only ever met one other Scarlett in my life and she was a baby!

I had the names Alissa and jasmine picked out for years and years. Then I loved the name Remi and was determined to use it for my first born no matter the gender. Thankfully, my boyfriend was smart and agreed lol

@Scarlett that’s interesting! I wonder if it differs by area. I worked in a couple schools and in one there was 2 Scarlett’s in the class and the next one had multiple Scarlett’s, one in the nursery class I worked in! And a few people I know from school used the name as well! I think it’s gotten more popular. I’m in north east England (Newcastle)!

Noelani has been my favorite for 10 years and my bf doesn't like it so we are looking for other names

The name I choose for my daughter is a name I have loved since middle school

i started picking out baby names i loved and wanted to use for my future children when i was about 10! i am very relieved i didn't have kids when i was younger, as the names i loved in my teens were - in retrospect - either totally awful, or at the very least not names i would choose today! 🤣

No, but only because I had a boys name from being little but had girls… would have used it though if had a boy

@Sara I love the name Aurora!! My husband hated it. I think it’s so cute though ♥️

I used to like the name Aurora growing up but now definitely wouldn’t use it😬

@Madelina ♡ omg teenage me had the worst taste in names, if I’d had a kid at 16, their name would be an embarrassment now 🫣 I found a baby name book of my mum’s when I was 6 or 7 and I used to read it obsessively to pick out names!

@Scarlett Delilah is a beautiful name, it’s so musical ♥️

@Emma unlike my girls choices, I was planning to use my childhood pick for a boys name (Jack, which is the only boy name my husband and I agreed on) but then one of my close friends had her baby two weeks before me and used it! Just by coincidence, I’d never mentioned it to her. So thank goodness I had a girl!

ha, yeah - at that kinda age, i used to make lists of baby names i love. looking back at them now, i am so glad i didn't have children and burden them with names i would later regret ! 🙈

I loved ‘Evelyn /Evie/ Eve’. I didn’t know anyone with the name growing up but it was in my family tree. The last three letters of Evelyn are the same as the first three letters of my sister’s name. Then everyone under the sun seemingly named their daughters Evelyn or Evie and it was really common so I fell out of love with the name.

Nope my husband didn’t like the name

@Steph that’s basically what happened with me and Florence, my best friend when I was a child was an elderly woman named Flo, never knew anyone else with the name, now old school names are having a comeback and Florence’s everywhere! I do know a couple Evie’s although not short for Evelyn!

I've had Soleil chosen since I was a kid and watched Punky Brewster (Soleil Moon Frye) + My First born is Phoebe Soleil. I also had Lux since first viewing The Virgin Suicides at 11 + my 2nd is Calliope Lux. Now, the heartbreak. Atreyu was my alltime favorite name of life since I can remember thabks to The Neverending Story and Atryeu became my favorite band when they came out, so double awesome. I had my 2 girls, but never a boy. My cousin 2,000+ miles away had a boy after my 2nd girl and named her boy Atreyu. So random and pretty sad but I never imagined I'd have a boy or another kid. Fast forward like 6 years and here I am with a 1 year old boy who I named Auryn (The Neverending Story) instead of Atreyu. I think I'm a million times more in love with this name now, though, so it's all good haha.

I've gone through many naming phases, but the one I still plan to use is a "boy" name for a girl. First, I loved Cameron but that's my cousin's name now. Then I wanted Everette, which is still on the list, but not my favourite. Then Eliotte, but my first was a boy and I named him Eliott. Now I'm obsessed with Ezra and if I ever have a girl it'll probably be a choice between that and Estelle.

I didnt have the name picked out since I was a kid but I had it picked out about 7 years before my daughter was born.

I had a whole list, alas my husband didn’t like any of them 🥲
