Pasta is a super easy finger food
Pasta- can make sauces out of veggies blended up Pancakes- made out of 1 egg, a mashed banana, and a spoon of flour Avocado toast Fish Chicken Sweet potatoes Cooked carrots Rice is messy and they hardly get any haha, but I suggest pressing it into a small measuring cup to make it like a small ball for baby to pick up and eat Scrambled eggs Yogurt with berries Oatmeal Butternut squash roasted in the oven
At 1 they can eat a lot of different foods. You want to make sure everything is cooked to a softer consistency and cut into longer strips and anything round cut into quarters. Here is a good resource I found helpful ☺️ https://pin.it/6J5m45PQi
At 1 baby can eat the same meals as you. Some foods just need to be adjusted so there served safely. Check out the solid starts app, you can search each food and see the safest way to serve it by babys age.
My daughter eats whatever we eat, we skipped purées and straight to solids after 6 months. We used the solids starts app and it was soooo helpful!
Just give them what you eat. It’s what we have done since 6 months. He loves curry and stuff with spices. Now he is one we are using a little salt in the cooking but not much.
Agree with above! Give her whatever you're eating. Just make sure the size and texture are appropriate. Solid starts app is great! We have 5 kiddos and #6 on the way. They all ate what we ate from 6mos old. They can do it! Chewing and moving food around in their mouth is such a huge learning experience and so great for their development. Give it a try!
What has he been introduced to so far? Do you use the Solid Starts app? We gave a little of everything except sugar (any added sugar), honey, or excessive salt at that age. They can eat most seasonings. We tried to make sure we introduced baby to staples in our family menus around that time. Chili and nacho meat with cumin, oregano, and garlic powder were big hits. We made egg muffins with lots of veggies and Italian seasoning for breakfasts. Lots of pasta options with high protein pastas like chickpea or red lentil pasta. We make Mac n cheese with added veggies, pesto (once allergy tested for tree nuts), green sauce (spinach, avocado, and parmesan), Alfredo, tomato sauce, or with broccoli, garlic, and oil. Our baby loves meat so we serve lots of meat dishes. We serve veggies on the side of mixed into dishes like onions in the chili and nacho meat, tomatoes in the nacho meat and egg muffins, etc. We make lots of pancakes and muffins with mashed bananas in them and add flaxseed and chia seeds for omega 3
Maybe consider gradually increasing the texture and blend less before going straight in with solids and BLW as your baby may not be so into it to begin with so may eat less. We do: - wholewheat pasta with tomatoes, and lots of different veggies (spinach, carrot, broccoli, corn, garlic and onion) - cod, potato, carrots and broccoli - chicken in the oven with potatoes, tinned tomatoes, onion and carrots - he loves this one - banana pancakes - cooked oats with banana, nut butters (if already introduced), milk or water - pasta bolognese with lots of veggies - Shepherds pie - Avocado, egg and tomato - Beef stew - Lamb roast - Chicken, rice and veggies We’re going to try curry this week, and chicken, potatoes, aubergine and some veggies All meals we blend but so they have lumps and we’re giving some finger foods after he’s eaten too to get him used to it
Thank you all so much for the info! So many good ideas I appreciate it a lot! Making a grocery order involving much of the items mentioned right now. 😊
Those are all good ideas and you can definitely add salt. Just make sure everything is cut nice and small and you test the foods one at time to avoid missing an allergic reaction
