Definitely worth trying hipp organic. That and kendamil are the only ones that don’t have one particular ingredient that a lot of babies struggle with. Also what bottles and size teat are you using?
@Alice could you please share what the ingredient is please as I’ve been doing so much research into this my head is like mash potatoes lol xx
I tried Gaviscon for my little one for a week and stopped it Just had enough of it she improved sickness wise but was still bringing up very thick bits of milk and egg white type of fluid which she struggled to spit out Also the constipation was severe We’re about to trial omeprazole x
@Alice thank you for your reply, she’s using mam bottles & size 2 teat, she is 13 weeks old.
@Lori Yes experienced the cottage cheese sick, but only once. Constipation I agree with is very severe, I was wondering whether we can continue her on it for another week, and change our milks. So I might ask for some lactulose to help her with the toilet.
In that case, I would recommend changing to a size 0 teat and paced bottle feeding. It will help Her control the flow a lot better to reduce the air intake and lessen reflux symptoms. If you try this, you shouldn’t need gaviscon
@AliceUnfortunately we did do this but she eventually kept falling asleep on the slow flow, and got quite bad sucking blisters on her lips which is why we upped the teats, sadly she has had the reflux issues since about 3 weeks ☹️ from which she was on 0. But we are also taking her to a tongue tie specialist so fingers crossed we can get some clarity & see if that’s causing issues. X
We tried it for about 2 weeks but the symptoms were so bad I basically pushed for the omeprozole. They tired asking us to continue with gaviscon but I said no and basically asked why they wouldn't prescribe the omeprozole, he kept saying the sphincter would mature over the upcoming weeks but we couldn't continue as a family with sleepless nights & baby being in such discomfort. I basically broke down in tears and challenged why until he finally agreed. Since then all I've heard from pharmacists and other GP is that it's expensive which is why it's so difficult to get it prescribed. We shouldn't have to argue the toss, you can't put a price on a babies comfort, hopefully you don't have a similar experience to us. Usually there is a root cause for the reflux though, I see you're looking at changing milk. Have you had a check for possible tongue tie? That was one of the key issues for us and now it's released it's a lot better x
