Do your little ones use utensils while eating?

My son always ends up eating with his hands! I try so hard to have him try to use a fork or spoon the entire time. I appreciate any advice! 🤍

For me, it depends on the food. Thick, scoop-able foods (cottage cheese, oatmeal, etc) he'll use utensils the majority of time. Meats, noodles, etc... he'll go back and forth between using his hands and utensils.

We always give the appropriate utensil for the food we give to our 3 and 2 years olds! We introduced utensils when we introduced food at 6 months and they are pretty good at using them but sometimes somethings are tricky and don’t require them and they just use their hands!

At 20 ish months no, I always offered but didn’t pressure him. He started fully using cutlery at 2y2m

I had to sometime make it into a game. I have to have my daughter give me a bit and then told she had to give herself and than eventually she loves using them

Maybe let him eat from your plate and tell him you won't give him if he will have to use his hands 😂😂

Sometimes fork, sometimes spoon, sometimes hands

She learned the spoon a while ago I just started her on baby forks n she’s a natural. She still puts the utilities down from time to time to use her hands especially at the end of the meal she likes to lick her plate lol. But I let her make a mess as long as she’s eating. I have a rug I use to wipe her table n chair n I just wash the rug n put it up for the next meal. For her I raise her in the sink. And done

My daughter does for the most part but if she struggles too long she’ll just use her hand then try the utensil again next bite, but my son doesn’t he will literally just hold the utensil with one hand and eat with the other 😂
