eczema and white patches
my son has had allergies from birth. Dairy, eggs, soy, probably more. He was also sensitive to corn formula. His entire infancy was difficult bc he reacted poorly to every formula. He can consume dairy in small amounts now (and eggs in whole), but it flares up his eczema. He has two spots under his arms that flare up intermittently, but nowhere else.
the other day I noticed a patch of rough, dry, scaly skin on his leg. Today, the patch is smooth and soft again, but its left a white spot. We are white, but this spot is WHITE. Lacking pigment white. Paper white. Ive been concerned that he may have a chronic illness bc of his allergies and sensitivities, and he gets so much sicker than the rest of us. Hospitalization sick.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with their childs illnesses or even an older child or themselves. We’ve done everything for his eczema, but since it was contained and doesn’t bother him, drs haven’t really tried to help figure out how to stop it. Im just afraid of missing something important.
I'm sorry to hear about your struggles. I personally would switch him to an all vegan diet. There are ways to supplement the nutrients needed. I wouldn't push dairy or eggs if it seems to make the flare ups worse. I also would have a humidifier going as much as possible. My daughter has one spot on her shoulder that comes around only in the winter. I noticed that when we took a trip to Mexico last January it literally went away. That's why I suggest a humidifier, it works for her really well! I would switch to all unscented and organic lotions. Shea butter is best and should be applied a few times a day. Try to let it soak in before covering with clothes. For the actual eczema patches, I would try to apply neem oil directly. It's amazing for eczema/psoriasis, it just doesn't have the best smell. But overall keeping a good moisturizing routine would be beneficial. Lastly, try to only use 100% cotton clothing. I know it can be hard these days, but it might help. I hope any of this helps!
