- there’s nothing wrong with smoking . But personally I wouldn’t do it & be breastfeeding. Because it travels to your baby. Also “ my child has autism and either your baby was born with autism or they weren’t . You can’t just wake up & have autism one day . I hope this helps💗
i bf and smoke and my baby is perfectly happy and healthy, it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be. you’re doing great girl! and you’re a great mama. her making those slick remarks would genuinely make me say something “well she’s not your baby so” “i’m not hurting my child in anyway stop trying to distill that into her head” cause YOURE NOT HER MOM I AM😂 “Estimated that infants received an average of 0.07 mg of THC per day.”
@Tenny thank you!
@Izzie thank you!
I wouldn’t advice it, especially if you’re exclusively breastfeeding. If you do choose to smoke you actually have to be pro-active in pumping/feeding BEFORE and waiting a while before the next feed. But even then thc can stay in breast milk for up to 6 days. If you’re a frequent smoker it might be an even longer retention period. I pumped and created a freezer supply for 6 months before I went back to smoking and baby was mixed feeding aswell. It’s entirely down to you but baby’s still small, I wouldn’t risk it.
My mom smoked while pregnant and while breastfeeding. I was literally top of my class my whole childhood lol. THC is a medicine that people don’t want to admit is actually good.
If it’s in your blood it’s in your milk but isn’t smoke just bad for you Iungs?
@Niyah thank you!! 🤣
A quick google tells you it's not advisable. I would not risk it. I'd stop smoking or switch to formula.
If your child does end up with an issue later will you not spend your life questioning if you caused it by smoking and breastfeeding? That guilt would never be worth it for me
It’s really none of her business, your baby your choices. I smoked the whole pregnancy with my firstborn and smoked while breastfeeding and he is happy and healthy with no mental disorders. If she continues you could just not have her around anymore. As long as it’s legal in the state you live in, you smoke it away from baby outside and you are over 21 nobody has a say in what you do in your free time.
I was advised to smoke directly after breastfeeding and not before so there's less concentration in the breast milk. But yes my doctor advised against it because it CAN travel into breastmilk. Of course you do you but your mother is right, it gets into the breast milk and I wouldn't risk it.
My nurse at wic said she would rather me smoke and breastfeed than smoke and formula feed… HOWEVER she also reported that I smoked to cps and since a small percentage of it transfers to baby system I did receive a phone call after I had him saying that baby had to test negative when they did a test or I would have to deal with repercussions of that and even went as far as trying to tell me I was abusing my baby in the end nothing happened except I changed to formula however wasn’t due to smoking it was due to not producing enough. You make the decisions for YOUR baby!
Those are both things your born with

It’s not bad to just formula feed it’s pretty much the same thing just gotta know if your vigils is lactose or not
@Tiasia formula and breast are not “pretty much the same thing” 🤦🏻♀️
It’s not her business… lol my dad is apart of the reefer madness generation and I make sure to not smoke around him… him and my mil kept saying don’t smoke during pregnancy and breastfeeding… but I think they know now because I leave out come back looking lifted… they don’t say anything now because my oldest is a psilocybin canna baby and see how advanced he is… and my second born is a canna baby and hitting milestones early
Don’t switch to formula though… our bodies have a cannabanoid system and baby takes that in…. And actually helps with neurological development…
Of course, people claim their kid is fine. Those who fucked up their kid wouldn't admit it. It's the same as saying "my kid front faced at 6 months old and he's fine" k surviver bias. I wouldn't dare risk drugs or alcohol coming in contact with my child through breast milk or otherwise.
@Jade do you have the research to back up your claim that it helps neurological development? Genuinely curious
I smoke while breastfeeding and aslong as I wait 2 hours or 3 before feeding my baby is fine perfectly healthy and advanced I’d either breast feed then smoke or wait 3-4 hours before feeding
@Imani only around 0.3% of the dead cells from smoking will go through to your milk. Milk is made from your blood everything your inhaling is connecting to your fat, it’s the dead ( inactive ) cells that fall from your fat into your blood. Remember we have so much blood, that’s a lot of dilution and inactive cells won’t hurt baby especially in such tiny amounts. We learn this in breastfeeding classes in the UK I’d definitely look into it. But it’s obviously all based on wether you are abusing it or if you just have a controlled habit. As long as your washing your face/hands, changing your clothes and not smoking around any of their things and allowing the smoke to spread and attach to things there’s nothing to worry about❤️❤️
i don’t see how it’s her business.. you’re the mother it’s your choice. i wouldn’t switch to formula, your milk is the best for your baby!
