My parents have recently told me they hate my kids’ names. Are they really that bad?

(F) Jillian August (Jills) (F) Eleanor Lucille (Ellie) (M) Florence Charles August is to honor my mom, brother, and aunt who passed away. Eleanor is the name of my husband’s great grandmother. Charles is the name of my husband’s grandfather. We love these names and they suit our children well. For reference, we live in America and both come from Italian descent.

They’re all lovely! I’ve never heard Florence for a boy though! That’s pretty harsh for them to tell you they hate them!! Xx

Theyre normal names. Who cares what others think. My parents didnt like the names i chose for my kids. I was in labor with my second and my mom was still suggesting other names trying to make me change my mind. I didnt listen because these are the names i picked with my husband

They sound like old school traditional names to me. I don’t see them as crazy or anything! I think they’re tripping fr.

What was the point in them telling you? Like, it's too late now anyway! Don't listen to them. They're all lovely names!

Do you like your kids names? It’s all that matters. They are beautiful and not something that will go out of style or to eclectic. Who cares what others think 👍🏼

To be honest I could understand the boys name although ive just seen the Italian reference. However one of your names (Ellie) is very common in the uk. They are very traditional names and nothing is too out there. Out of interest what names would they have picked?

I'd say the boys first name is typically feminine and the girls are quite old fashioned but Henry, George etc once were and they're now extremely popular.

That's unkind of them to say, they are normal nice names and it's too late to change them so sounds like they want to start drama or maybe just messing with you?

I think they're cute. 💜 I toyed with the idea of naming my daughter Jillian (my mom's name is Jill), and if I planned on having another kiddo and ended up with a girl, that's the name I'd use.

I’m sorry I hit the wrong choice. I meant they’re all cute.

None of those are even outlandish a little bit. Your parents are overstepping and honestly just straight up being mean..

They are lovely and original. Think your parents would be well advised to think before they speak. Not kind

@Hayley i had a friend in HS named Florence, they called him Flowers for short
