Advice on feeding

I have a little 5 week old boy who is currently in 5oz, he feeds fast and gulps his bottles resulting in wind and more puking afterwards now. We are doing all the normal stuff; keeping him up right, lots of breaks and winding in a variety of ways to help. I looked at slow bottle teats but Tommi Tippe but cant find a slow feed for newborns, there is medium/fast for 3/6months +. I am waiting for advice from HV, any suggestions I would appreciate tho!

My pediatrician told me to put rice cereal in his bottle, but I didn’t necessarily feel comfy with that so I switched to Dr. Brown’s bottles and got preemie nipples

Have you tried pace feeding?

@Chloe just googled this 🤣 we are already pretty much doing this trying to slow down the amount he is gulping. He gets very angry when we stop for breaks.

We had a similar issue & was advised to switch to MAM bottles, we did & it helped massively! My LO does suffer with reflux & has baby Gaviscon from the doctors which helps him keep his feeds down. We only tend to use the Gaviscon for 3 feeds on a night so it doesn’t disturb his tummy! X

@Anna oh sorry I wasn’t any help :( we did use Mam bottles I think if you sign up for the boots parenting club you can get a new born size for free and that does come with an extremely slow flow teat which could help?

Omg do not pur rice cereal in his bottle 🙈 I had tommee tippee and had to switch to mam because my girl found them too fast too. We moved back for a while when she was around 3 months but still too fast so gone back to mam again! She is 5 months and only just moved to size 2 teats ☺️

Mam bottle with a size 0 teet! I also laid my little one down on his side to feed (basically similar to how BF babies are when being fed) and that also helped!
