Should we start using nipple butter before child birth? My friend told me that her nipples cracked as soon as she started feeding. Does preparing the nipples help?

Im a first time mom and im curious to know how many ounces your littles are eating. My baby girl turns 2 weeks tomorrow and she eats 3 ounces but sometimes is still hungry and will take another 1-1.5. It just seems like a lot. It is breastmilk if that makes a difference at all.
