New mom here too. This Friday will be 4 weeks for my babygirl. Sometimes she does well between 3-4 Oz, but around 100ml. Every feed will be different
Thatās a lot!
That definitely seems like a lot but every baby is different. Their tummies are soooo tiny for a while so I would try to get like 2-3 oz and see what baby does. And distract. Play with baby do other things with baby. Give a pacifier or something and see what they do. If theyāre still super cranky and acting hungry then give a couple more oz. But if you constantly feed a baby more you can stretch their stomachs which isnāt the greatest. My 15 month old had been doing 6 oz since idk 10 months. So that definitely sounds like a ton for a month old. But again every baby is different but Iād try to go down first and distract
Mine is 2 weeks and downing 4. Doctor said as long as heās not spitting up a ton and milk dripping from his mouth after feeding then just to let him eat.
@Brielle okay he does spit up a little so I probably am š¤¦š¾āāļøš
@Haley I know Iām sure I am giving him too muchš¤¦š¾āāļø
@Gabrielle thank you! Iāll definitely trying cutting it down to 4 and see how that goes but when he did drink 4oz, heād still cry and fuss like heās hungry. š
@Taylor donāt feel bad at all! Your baby will let you know. Some other cues that they are getting full is that their hands will loosen, if they are still balled up in a fist they are still hungry. Maybe cut back on an oz at first and see what happens, or burp more often, like after every other ounce. Trust yourself though, youāre doing a great job love. Iām a first time momma too but just an advantage when your sister is a NICU nurse who also has a newbornš«¶š»
@Taylor a tiny bit of spit up is normal every once in a while, but if itās a ton of spit up every single time then Iād say youāre probably over feeding just a little bit.
@Taylor I would start at 3 oz and if he seems unsatisfied then give him an oz more. Newborns like to suck. So they will take a bottle or boob even when they arenāt hungry. Does he take a pacifier? Try to offer a pacifier after feeding to see if thatās settles him. All babies spit up but if they are spitting up right after a feeding then itās probably too much. If you are giving breastmilk then most babies donāt need over 5 oz.
That is a lot. My 1 year old was only drinking 4oz, 5oz max, at a time.
@Brielle thank you girl fr!ā¤ļø if she has anymore tips for you just let me know also š«š
That sounds like a lot. Go down to 4oz and then if baby still wants more, give 1 more ounce and see
That does seem like quite a bit but every baby is different! Iād start off giving him 4 oz and see how he reactsā¦it also depends on how often heās feeding and how long the feed isā¦Iād try giving him smaller bottles but more oftenā¦.my baby never nurses for a long time but she was eating every 2 hours like clockworkā¦so it would make sense for your son to eat more but say every 4 hoursā¦and if heās sleeping long stretches at night itās also normal for Him to eat more in the day to make up for the time he spends sleeping which was also how my babygirl was ! Iād burp him well half way through the bottle and at the end then try a paci to see if itās Just because he wants to suckle ..if heās also throwing up every time, and itās a good amount then heās heās over eating! But at the end of the day, you are his mommy and you know best! So donāt take any of our advice to strongly about feeding less or anything else if you donāt feel in your heart thatās what best for himā¦.if you think you

Are feeding him the right amount then continue to do that! Iām sure you will figure it out soonš
Your baby will let you know when theyāre too full. Most of the time, my son would just stop eating and totally stop taking the bottle when he was full. When he got older, we upped him to 7oz and he would spit up every time so we knew we needed to stay at 6oz. We have to feed him a little more often now that heās 10 months, but he has taken 6oz since he was 5-6 weeks I would say. Every baby is different, so just take note!! If youāre baby isnāt giving you signs that youāre over feeding him, then youāre probably fine.
I think mine was having 4-5 oz at a time and the pediatrician didnāt seem concerned
My son would drink 6oz at 4 weeks also! It is a lot, but you are not over feeding. If it was too much for him, he wouldnāt be finishing the bottle. Heās just going to be a big boy -tall
Daughter is 3 weeks old and the pediatrician told me she's happy if she at least has 2 ounces per feed. She normally drinks 3, but sometimes does 4. Then she also has moments where she'll wake up shortly after falling asleep and want to eat again so I'll just fix 1 or 2 ounces at a time to see where she stops. Since I know when she does that she won't take a whole 3 ounces again that close together.
@Jessive she said 4 weeks, not 4 months or else I wouldnāt think it could be too much either! 4 months seems normal for 4 ozs
My health visitor said they drink about half their weight so if theyāre about 12lbs theyāll have 6oz but if bubs didnāt need or want it he wouldnāt drink it x
If heās spitting up a lot (5 ml or more) cut it back half an ounce at a time until it gets less and you will find the sweet spot. My LO was the same way. Loves his food but doesnāt know his limits lol.
My son was drinking 6oz at 4 weeks and is perfectly fine. Some are just more hungry than others
Way too much for that age.
No you are fine the baby will let you know when he doesn't want anymore my son also breastfeed on both sides and 20-30 later he wanted more the go threw eating spells they want more them other times want a little my son at more then our girls besides our bigger girl when she was born she was 8lb 12 oz
Over feeding!
My son had reflux, tummy, and hiccup issues as a tiny guy. I had to burp him every ounce until he was a little older then I'd burp him every couple of ounces, then halfway through, then not at all once he could move around more. Maybe that would help him pace himself and make you feel confident you aren't over feeding. My Dr said a feed should last around 20 minutes or more around that age.
