Getting discharged

How do you know if you've been discharged from midwife care? Do they tell you because I'm 5 weeks pp and haven't seen them since week 2 so I'm assuming I've been discharged? Do they have to formally tell you?

I think you’ve been discharged. My discharge appointment is today and I’m 15 days pp. If you need any help with baby, you’ll call the health visitor from now on.

They told me they would be discharging me to the health visitor now. I saw them day 3/5/7/12 and then discharged

I was told on the day 10 visit, she asked me quite formally "are you happy to be discharged?"

Where i am they tell you and they take your purple monitoring books. So you are only left with your red baby book x

I went for my 2 week check and she told me then x

Mine never told me with my first, I felt a bit abandoned! I had to take my little one to clinics for weighing etc after that! X

I was 4 weeks when they discharged me. They take your notes and tell you to speak to the gp if you have any problems

Mine said she was happy to discharge me from their care and the HV will be looking after me now, she also confirmed I’d heard from them and had a home visit booked in (which was the day after)

I'm in a similar boat. I've seen the midwives once since discharge from hospital. No idea if we've been formally handed over or what. I expected way more contact with a premature jaundice baby sent home on a feeding plan. Follow up care is a joke.

@Caroline I hate the fact they haven't actually said if I have been or not? Because I'm pretty sure I have but I hate not knowing for sure, I feel the same way.

Sure I get that! Mine just just stopped coming and didn’t say so that’s why I felt a bit abandoned too! Maybe call your midwife base up and ask someone tomorrow? Xx
