HPV testing

Heya! I recently got the Smear test after I gave birth (4 months post partum). It came back as positive and they told me to wait three months to do it again. Today I received a letter saying it cane back positive. They also tested the sample and they found changes to some of the cells in your cervix called “low-grade dyskaryosis”. They have now referred me to get a colposcopy. I have been with my husband for 4 years and have never been with anyone else before. He did tell me that he had warts before we got together but he got them removed. The doctor said these things can happen where you get the virus but is not active until you have low immune system, such as getting pregnant and giving birth. Has anyone got this? Or been through this? Would love some advice.

I had this and the dr told me a lot of people will have it at some point it’s if you’re sexually active not if you’ve been with other people. My results came back none cancerous thankfully

HPV is a common virus amongst those who have been sexually active. A lot of people won’t even know they have it, as it can remain dormant in your system for years and like your doctor said, can flare up again when you’re run down etc. HPV causes genital warts. I have had HPV, and colposcopy. Happy to answer any questions.

I had this when I was 19, and unfortunately it never really went away. I just had a colposcopy. They said I will probably just need to be tested every year and have colposcopy every 2nd year or so. There’s the bad strains that more likely cause cervical cancer, but k have the lower grade ones. They said cancer takes so long to develop that by the time you get it, it’s treatable

I have had abnormal paps and colposcopy right before baby #2. It has since cleared up.

It’s not actually a sexually transmitted disease, I had my smear last week and have been positive for 2 years (not got my results back yet) it’s transmitted through sexual contact but you could’ve had it dormant in your system for years but only just activated it, it’s not anything to be ashamed off men and woman have it, doesn’t mean anyone cheated etc
