People who had PGP

I am currently 32 weeks, and since 20 weeks have had PGP In my left lower back, at the back of my pelvis (where back dimples are) and it’s a shooting, excruciating pain. Not siatica as not shooting down the leg. Some days I can’t walk or move. Anyone who had PGP, (even better this kind) how long until it went post birth, and did you birth vaginally or via c section? I am weighing up my options but recovery from this awful pain is a big consideration for me. Thank you x

I have the same issue babe I’m 31 weeks but they honestly shouldn’t leave you with it my midwife told me to get some physio put in place. I hope your not in pain long X

Yes mine was like this. I was in absolute agony and had to see chiropractor daily to put my pelvis back in place. Mine went as soon as my baby was out, delivered vaginally.

@Lil I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling too 😩 awful isn’t it. I’ve seen the physio but I don’t really find it helps, do you? hope you feel better soon too x

@Beka thank you this is so reassuring x

I had it too from about week 20 all the way till the birth. I have to say doing exercises with the exercise ball really really helped! Buy a ball and look for pgp exercises on YouTube - do them every day. The pain was gone once the baby was delivered. Mine was C-section

I had PGP very early on and although not as painful, I still struggled one year after having my kiddo. Essentially the relaxin hormone can remain in your body for several months post birth or for longer for breastfeeding mamas (my case). I am now 3 years post partum, I run and workout regularly and I am overall pain free, but on the days when I have a clingy toddler and I walk him on my hip a lot, I end up being in pain again. I do think that my case is more uncommon though, have heard from loads of friends/coworkers etc that they were pain free the minute they had their babies :)

@Emandoh thank you this is really good to know! X

@Agne Hi Agne, can you recommend which tutorials you followed with your exercise ball? Really need a good one!

Ah sorry! I really don’t remember, my baby is now 13 months 😅 I can’t remember specific playlist, but try searching for ‘pelvic girdle pain exercise ball’. They were something like doing small circles while on the ball, tilting your pelvis up and down while on the ball, etc. I honestly think any and all were helpful. Sorry I can’t remember the precise list!

@Agne thank you so much! Ah I was under the impression that it was more recent, but appreciate the help nonetheless :)

Was awful up until birth and straight after birth it had gone away completely! Labour was great and had a great vaginal birth no pelvic pain just normal labour pains and contractions
