I love the hormonal coil and will be going back to it. The hormones are localised unlike the pill so I found I had way fewer hormonal changes and my periods stopped pretty much which was great. If the insertion pain is your biggest worry, they can often insert it straight after birth while you're still in hospital, getting stitches or after a C-section anyway. But apparently it's less painful after you've had a baby to get it inserted in general even if you wait a few weeks. For me it was definitely uncomfortable and I had some bad cramping afterwards but was definitely worth it. X
I had the copper coil and no complaints. Top tip: get it put it when you are on your period!! So much of the insertion pain reported is because HCPs try to muscle past the cervix. Your cervix is slightly more open when menstruating eg day 2.
I've been from the pill to the implant which the implant didn't agree with me at all (cysts and bleeding) Maybe start off with Condoms/Pill as it's easier to change to coil than from coil?
