First period after birth

I am really struggling had my first period on 4th June and it knocked me for six I started my contraception then ans I am still bleeding 13 days later what do you think I should do I have another week on my pill and then the period will arrive again just don't know what to do as I am constantly drained and in agony anyone else had this? I am on microginan 21 days take the pill and have 7 days off any info would be brill xx

This happened to me and my GP told me you can take microginan (sorry can't spell it!) continuously (without a break) for three months in a row and it is absolutely fine with no risks. He said the reason combined pills were thought to be best taken with a 7 day break was initially for religious reasons. The Catholic Church thought not having a bleed was unnatural so that's why women have been told to do it for decades. But there is no risk in taking it for a few months continuously!

@Suzie thank you sweet just concerned because i genuinely thought ny period would of eased of by now I will take it continuous then for 3 months then have a break thank you 😊

@Steph my first one after birth was awful too but it did settle after the first month or so! Definitely get in touch with your GP if it doesn't settle after a couple of cycles x
