Maternity leave still means you’re a working parent x

@Toni ah yes, that makes more sense! I’m getting myself all muddled trying to work out financially what are my best options with when returning to work, using nursery, using KIT days etc it’s a minefield! 🤯
@Nic oh I’ve not even thought about KIT days 😂😂😂 I already don’t want to go back to work though I can’t imagine leaving the little one!!
This is my second so I’m a bit more chill about it, but first time round I was so nervous! Left him with my in-laws who are great, but I was still constantly texting to see if he was ok! I was also able to do some KIT days from home, catching up with online training etc, depends what your job is but you may not have to physically go in to work for a few days.
@Nic yeah I work in M&S so nothing I can really do from home unfortunately 🥲 she’ll be with my mam 2 days a week then then my 2 days off then nursery once a week then my boyfriends off every weekend so really not too bad but I’ll still be going crazy 😂
Got to ask I'm in retail my maternity ends the end of May and I plan to go to work and do kit days a few months before going back does that mean I only get the hours from 1st sep?
@Leah yes I believe so. I didn’t realize the date you returned to work impacted on when you could get hours from. I don’t think KIT days would count as retuning to work, as you’re still entitled to maternity pay if working KIT days
I’m not 100% sure myself but I’m in the same boat with only being able to claim from April term, but by the looks of that chart you need to return BETWEEN 1st feb and 30th April?
