Following this! My physio recommended topical oestrogen (I have rectal prolapse too) but I haven’t gone for it yet as was worried about taking hormone stuff! Xx
So the day after I wrote this it’s triggered my period. And super heavy bleeding. Which is annoying because I wasn’t expecting to get it yet. Some basic research into women’s hormones and it makes total sense that this it what would happen!! Yet no one warned me. There seems to be no research at all about vaginal estrogen for breastfeeding women!! Which seems bonkers if this is something that could help people! The GP’s who I’ve spoken to about it seem to have no idea. And it seems to be completely pot luck. Another friend was told they wouldn’t prescribe it. And another was given 2 days worth of pessery tablets. And I was given 10 weeks worth! Why? That’s a huge difference. It feels like GPs are doing a total stab in the dark with this. It constantly feels really disappointing and outrageous how little research or support there is for postpartum or breastfeeding women. If this was men’s body’s. There would be so much more research and support! 🤯🤦♀️
