Doulas/Midwives?

I haven't had success finding someone. My family is in the Midwest so I can't be certain I'll have someone on call when I give birth. My couple looks into the scene have been very unproductive. If anyone has a recommendation for someone who would be available to advocate for me during labor please let me know! My biggest sticking points so far have been that while I am trying to avoid intervention unless necessary, I am not opposed to them if they truly become necessary and most of the people I've seen are against them ALWAYS, which is never going to be me.

I liked CNY Doula Connection a lot but I would not say that my doula advocated for me during birth, I think most doulas would say arguing with medical professionals is out of the scope of their job description. I was disappointed because I wanted a boss type doula who could keep my nurses and doctors in check but what can you do? Also I know Divine Dandelion Birth is well-liked by some of my friends.

@Rita yeah in all honesty I would prefer a certified midwife for that reason. I want someone clear-headed with enough background and training who can have the discussion with the doctors about what is necessary while I'm, y'know, laboring lol But I also know some people use the terms more or less interchangeably which is why I phrased it the way I did
