Partner moving onto shift work

Does anyone else partner do 12 hour day/nights shift work? My partners company are moving onto shift work and I’m really worried how it’s gonna affect our family life and relationship. Just want to know how other people find it?

If they are doing 12 hours they will have more days off in the week. They might also be able to do some extra childcare depending on shift patterns etc. On some ways annoying but can be good in other ways.

My partner does 4 on 4 off alternating between days and nights. I actually think this will be better when baby arrives as there will be a 4 day period where we can do stuff as a family rather than just waiting for the weekend?

My partner does 4 x 12 hours nightshift a week. I do 5 x 8 hour days We are like passing ships most days but always have weekends for us and the kids. It’s hard at times, but it works for us right now x

I actually do 12 hr shifts myself, 2 days, 2 nights and then 4 off. I find it much better than when I was working 9-5 because I have more days at home. My husband works from home so I feel like we get more time together. It's hard when I'm working both days over the weekend but it's not every weekend so it's fine. As long as he still manages his sleep you both should be fine

My partner does 4 on 4 off. 2 12 hour days followed by 2 12 hour nights and then 4 off. It doesn't actually work out at 4 off though because they say after his night shift he has to sleep so it's more like 3 off. I'm not going to lie I absolutely hate it. But some people like it! I think it depends on the person. Feel free to message me anything if you want to talk about it! X
