Will I be entitled for Maternity Allowance?

will i be entitled for MA as I quit work and then found out im pregnant? i worked for a full year and was 3 weeks in when i quit. obviously i know the employer wont pay me, however, am i to even apply for MA?

You have to have worked for a certain period of time prior to a certain in pregnancy and paid a certain amount of ni. If you go onto the .gov site it will give you ur test period and you need to provide so many weeks of pay slips as evidence. You can start claiming it from 11 weeks prior to due date but it can take near 2 month for them to sort everything

@maya-jane this is crazy, i literally got off 26 weeks by the dates given

It was a bit of nightmare applying for it. If you don't qualify for it you can apply for Universal Credit and if you get the UC you should be eligible for the best start grant and the food and milk one too.
