I was told by my previous OB to do all of the stuff at 28 weeks because after that is when it matters. I never did a labor and delivery tour, but I did end up going to the unit so I least knew where it was. Also, they told me that if I would’ve done a tour that I wouldn’t have even seen the room that I delivered in or my postpartum room because I was in the biggest ones of both because there was nobody else there. Personally, this time I am going to do a tour of the Nicu hospital just so I know where it’s at should she have to go.
My doctor recommended me doing a class late second trimester. My class will be at the hospital I deliver so will include a tour.
I run my own business full time and tbh can only handle so much mentally. Right now I’m 17 weeks and just focusing on nutrition/ working out and reading a more natural weekly follow a long book.. it will all get done I’m not worried
Is a tour of the hospital normal? I’m sorry, I’ve never heard of that
@Allana Nikpouri yes :) I did one with my first and it's on every baby to do list I've ever seen. It might not be standard in some areas (I'm thinking mostly like very busy cities?) but I live rurally so things stay medium -slow around here and it's something they can offer patients. With my last one it's also when I met with the lactation consultant for the first time and we discussed breastfeeding things before baby girl was even born.
Birth classes I will do around 30 weeks so it is fresh. Pediatrician I got recommendations but where I live you can only schedule with specific time ahead
I’ll be touring in the end of august or beginning of sept when I can be sure where our new house will be 😂 I’d like to keep the same on I have so I might be willing to commute to her if it’s not too far my labors are usually about 12 hours of contractions so I will have time to get there and get settled. I do plan to tour the closest facility as well as my preferred just in case 🤣
There are multiple hospitals around me. I have no idea which hospital I want to deliver in. My primary is at one hospital, but I got information from the other hospital about the classes. Any opinions?
We did an online tour of the hospital we will be going with since they don’t do in person tours, I told my husband I want everything done before August 1 ( since we are going to Hawaii for 10 days and I’m due in November lol I don’t wanna do anything after 25 weeks) I want everything prepped and ready so the only thing left will be the baby shower. My plan is to have everything set up and done by August because I’m only 18 weeks now but I’m already having back and hip pain so I’m limited already.
