Insurance covering tests
Does someone have Aetna cvs health insurance? I called and the agent wasn’t sure about the coverage of the first trimester tests including NIPT and Nucal Translucency. He said they only cover what’s necessary to monitor the baby, my OB says the 1 trimester screenings are optional??? I don’t understand 😭

But Medicaid covers them 😭😭
Medicaid only covers IF there is an immediate concern from the doctor and the doctor write a script recommendation stating it is medically necessary. Considering they told you optional, I would bank on it not being covered and that you will get a bill after it gets denied from your insurance (if you chose to do it)
It's sucky, cause it would be great if it was covered for all women, but unfortunately our healthcare system just doesn't see it that way😔

They are optional because insurance won't cover them. I chose to do the genetic testing for my 1st born and it was about $200 out of pocket because the majority of insurance will not cover because they are not "necessary" tests
