Hey! Totally empathise with you. I’m 40+1 today also and my hospital has the same policy. I had my first at 39 weeks via induction due to health concerns so taking it as a positive that this babe is happy and healthy at least! I only had my daughter 18 months ago and the policy then was 42 weeks so just goes to show how much it changes all the time and obviously the due dates are only an estimate unfortunately! It’s so hard waiting I know x
The reduction from 42 to 41 is just because there’s so much more evidence now about higher stillbirth rates after 41 Weeks and even higher after 42. The baby might be happy chilling in the womb but the placenta starts dying and they don’t get the full power of what they need from it. Not the case for everybody but I understand why they don’t want to encourage it xx I was feeling really deflated at 40 weeks, now 40+5 with an induction on Thursday, not my ideal plan but at least this will all Be over soon!!
First: 40 weeks + 3 days And sadly there’s no pattern at all but for my other pregnancies… Second: 39 weeks + 2 days Third: currently waiting on labour and am 40 weeks + 2 days Wish they all just came roughly the same in weeks 😂
Bless ya. I feel like that at 38+5 lol it’s one of the most frustrating things in the world. The closer you get the more frustrating it is. My first was 12 days over so was induced with him. My second was 2 days early but I was also induced with her due to headache and bp issues. This one we aren’t sure how he will come or when at the moment, so consultant on Thursday. Fingers crossed your little one comes soon xx
I’m exactly the same! I was due yesterday and feel so deflated especially after my midwife telling me that baby will probably arrive before my due date. This is my third baby and I’ve never been induced so never given it a thought. I declined a sweep at 38 weeks thinking that I wanted everything to be natural and baby would be here before due date. Kind of regretting it a bit now! I feel your pain! 🫶
My 1st was 41 weeks, trying to stay realistic that it's likely to be the same again for this one. I don't understand why policies are now shifting to 41 weeks from 42?! Baffles me! They spend all pregnancy reminding you that a due date is such a rough guide yet once you get there it's almost as though it's set in stone and a disaster if you go past it?! We're all tired and fed up and want to meet our baby's, just know that you're not alone, I reckon a good 90% of the 7.5k on this group are feeling this! Xx
