Spinal or general anesthesia?

From experience, do you ladies recommend the spinal tap or general anesthesia for the cerclage placement, and why? My first was PPROM and extremely premature so I haven't had to do either but my mfm gave me the option and I don't know which to choose.

I wasn’t given the option I did the spinal tap. I didn’t thing could do GA due to it not being good for baby

I wasn’t given an option either I got the spinal tap

@La'Bria @Suzarah did it hurt going in? Or recovering from it? Do you know if it's the same as an epidural?

Yes it did 😣 not even gonna lie to you but it was quick

This is my first pregnancy so idk if it’s similar to epidural the dr said it’s similar . I had to stick around in recovery until I got feeling in my legs again which took a few hrs. You’ll have some lower bac pain for about a week after also just use a heating pad

It did hurt but not for long. I feel like the numbing shot was the worst part. I also have mild scoliosis so it made it harder to get into my spinal cord. Recovery I was just sore tbh but compared to epidural I had contractions while getting mine so I don’t know exactly if it hurt less or not but with the spinal block I wasn’t able to move my legs or lower half at all. With my epidural I still had function of my legs

@La'Bria I agree my situation was similar as far as recovery from the spinal tap

Ok thanks guys

@Suzarah yesss the numbing was definitely the worst part

I had general anesthesia no problems with the baby. I was so thankful not to have to get the epidural for that.

I did the spinal tap I was given the option due to my anxiety but I did the spinal tap it wasn't to bad
