Advice pls šŸ˜„

Hi girls. I phoned up today to book an early scan for when Iā€™m 6+5 due to previous ectopic pregnancy. When I spoke to a midwife , she said thereā€™s still a chance I could NOT be pregnantā€¦ which has left me confused. Iā€™m 4+1 today. My cycles are 26/27 days so I have missed my period. Iā€™m intermittently mildly nauseas , the odd bit of sore boobs and mild cramping in lower abdominal / left side. I took my first easy@home test (which shows up hcg of 10 or more) on 7th July, when Iā€™d have been 3+3 (10dpo) and it was positive. I then took a clearblue the next morning (11DPO, which shows up hcg25) and it was positive, then took another 48 hrs later, then another 48 hours later, and just took another one there. All getting darker. She has told me that before my period is due I can get a spike in HCGā€¦.. at what point are women expected to believe their positive test in the absence of a scan?!?!? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, thank you.

If epu aren't gonna give you one. Call your doctors and express your concern the doctors can then phone EPU to get you a scan x

@Kimberley hi Kimberley. Thanks for your message. So Iā€™ve been given one for 6+5 days but it just completely threw me that sheā€™s telling me I could not be pregnant but these are my tests and my period hasnā€™t came so my anxiety went through the roof and I just couldnā€™t really understand what she was trying to get at so wondered if anyone else had experienced similar or knew something I didnā€™t!

I have never heard that! Crazy šŸ˜† well firstly congratulations because you're pregnant! I wonder if she is referring to the chance of a chemical pregnancy? They can happen before 5 weeks and sometimes don't even get noticed because they are very early and the subsequent bleed is often just recognised as a period but even a chemical pregnancy is a pregnancy so not sure what she means. I wouldn't worry about it being a chemical pregnancy either because those tests look very strong ā¤ļø I had a chemical in April and my tests didn't get darker over the course of the week so I knew it was coming, yours look really good. Maybe speak to your GP? Wishing you all the best xx

Thanks so much Katie . Appreciate you taking the time to reply . Yeah I understand chemical pregnancies, but she was basically saying that a can get an HCG spike of up to 30 before my period arrives so it could be thatā€¦. And it totally threw me cause Iā€™d never heard of it!

@Katie also, so sorry to hear about your chemical, been through a few losses myself and they never get easier and anxiety just gets worse surrounding it! Fingers and toes crossed for your rainbow bubba xx

@Natalie you can't get an Hcg spike of up to 30 unless you're pregnant (or have a serious medical condition that would cause Hcg). Anything above 5 is positive for pregnancy. LH spokes before period but HCG does not, it is only produced by a developing embryo (or in cases of serious medical conditions as I said earlier)

@Charley okay thanks. This is what a MIDWIFE told me. Which is just insane. She brought me so much anxiety from that but also just a lot of confusion!

@Natalie unfortunately even medical professionals are wrong or have certain misconceptions! I've had IVF and they said anything above 5 is positive, whether it rises quick enough or to a suitable number is another matter entirely, but still.
