Midwife recommendations

Hi Edmonton mamas, Please recommend best midwives in the city or even OB. I just found out we are expecting #2, I have been struggling to find family doctor but use walk in which is not convenient as consultation is rushed. It gets more stressful when you pregnant, I still have not been able to see a doctor for the pregnancy because they are fully booked this week. I understand midwives you start to see at 3 months but am just preparing myself. My first pregnancy we had before we moved to AB, and we had the most amazing , supportive team midwives and family doctor. I wish for the same experience if not more😰 Also do I need referral to a midwife or I can pick one for myself? Thank you for your kind answers.

Apply on the Alberta Association of Midwives website TONIGHT lol. They are very high in demand. You do not need a referral, you simply fill out an application. I had Heather Beaudoin of Hope Midwives for two births; fantastic! I always selected all practices on my application though.

I had an amazing midwife in BC, and moved to Edmonton and I’ve been on the wait list since, I’m now almost 30 weeks. It’s really hard to get one here. You should try mom care docs! That’s who I’m with and they are fabulous :)

@Alanna OMG this is so helpful. Thank you for the info

@Raina really? This is scary. Am going through the mom care docs, i will be booking appointment. This was so helpful.

Passages Midwife - through the Alberta Association website is amazing. They have a location in Stony & Millwoods. AMAZING ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you mamas, the relief I have after your comments ❤️

@Raina hi how do I get one in BC, Vancouver to be precise.. I have been having a difficult time

@Oprah hey hun! I was living on the island, and I just emailed the midwives that were in my vicinity, and they just emailed me back if they had space or not and luckily both did! So just search up the midwives near you and email them, and if you tried that and haven’t heard back, maybe see if they have a contact number to call
