Recurring Impetigo

Has anyone else dealt with a case of impetigo that keeps clearing up but then coming back? Back in May we took my daughter to Great Wolf Lodge. I bathed her both times we went to the water park but alas 2 days after we got back she came down with a suspicious rash in her armpit. Her pediatrician said it was impetigo and we caught it early. Gave me some topical and oral antibiotics and it cleared up. A week or so later it came back again. I already had the meds on hand so I just quickly started using them again and it cleared up again no problem. It has come back 2 more times since then totaling 4 times. I got a little worried so I took her to a dermatologist for further evaluation. He said that he thought it was impetigo as well and to do a staph decolonization protocol which I am now in the process of doing. He said if that doesn’t work and it comes back again he’ll have to do a biopsy. Naturally I cannot get the word “biopsy” out of my head. Has anyone else ever dealt with recurring impetigo that won’t go away. I’m horribly nervous now and very upset.

My son currently has it he’s almost 4 , got it from Daycare I assume, I had Mrsa really bad and am paranoid about getting it. When I took him his case was only like 3 spots now he has like 7-8 and one is huge above his lip , had to call the dr for oral antibiotics because he’s also running a fever which not sure if it goes along with it or not . I also am washing everything of his that he’s rubbed close to face blankets , pillows etc

My daughter’s is in her armpit. I always catch it so early that she only gets 1 spot

That’s good , my son just started his antibiotics for it . I feel bad for him because it looks like it hurts
