Fibroids

When I had my first pregnancy scan they found Fibroids. Pregnancy was great besides that, I was advised in order to get pregnant quicker next time it would be best to have them removed which I’m not against. I just wanted to know if there’s any Mums that has dealt with fibroids and also whether they got them removed or not & if so was it easy to get pregnant the 2nd time around for you?

Interested in this too. They found a small fibroid at the top of my uterus during my anatomy scan. (I’m 28 weeks now) they weren’t too concerned, said it was small and just to watch if I get heaver periods after baby.

Same I had the first time and was able to still conceive a second time with out having the others removed. They say the can reduce in size with a particular diet, it’s hormones that increase the growth.

I had one before my pregnancy. It was small. I bought something on amazon that claimed to get rid of them. Like some drops. The next time I went it, they didn't see that fibroid.

I just had my baby march this year, scan said I have multiple fibroids, but pregnancy was good , the doctor said I can come back and remove the fibroids 6months after if it is disturbing me but if is not disturbing I shouldn’t worry about it that sometimes it shrinks on its own.

It really depends what type of fibroids you have, where they are and how big. Fibroids within the uterine cavity can affect your ability to get pregnant. Fibroids within the wall or outside the wall don’t generally impact fertility. But all fibroids are prone to growth during pregnancy. Mine caused me a few issues in pregnancy because of size and location.

@Ketisha do you know what that diet is?

@Eva do you still remember the name of those drops?

I had a lot of fibroids removed inside and outside the uterus a few years ago. They advised me to get pregnant within 5 years of the surgery because there is a chance of them growing back. They left the few that were within the uterine wall and one that was very close to an ovary because I stressed to them that this removal was to maintain fertility/viability for future pregnancies. I got pregnant 3 years later and now 6 years later. Both times, the doctors measured the fibroids to see if they'll interfere with the pregnancy. They said that the hormones produced during pregnancy sometimes cause the fibroids to get bigger quickly too, but thankfully that has not been the case for me. My cousin, on the other hand, had a hard time with her fibroids getting bigger while pregnant so she was very uncomfortable but her baby was born with no issues and is a healthy 8yo now. The surgery to remove the fibroids did mean that I was most likely going to need a C-section for my pregnancies, which I have no problem with.

It was harder for me to get and stay pregnant the first time. This second time was much easier. I only had the surgery once, 6 years ago.
