Anyone is still breastfeeding?

Hi mamas! It may be highly opinionated topic but my son just turned 16 months and we are weaning off the breastmilk. He used to take the breast first thing in the morning and at bedtime, and bottles during the day at daycare which decreased from 6oz to none over the course of few months. So now we are off the bottle, no cow milk (just water) during the day but continuing the morning and night feeds. Anyone can share their experience with weaning? Does your baby like cow milk? Mine refuses to drink it cold..

We are just weaning at 16 months. My daughter won’t drink cows milk so she just has water and I try to get her calcium other ways, like yogurt.

I breastfed till may 5th.. I started giving her a little bit of nesquick in milk and she now drinks maybe a cup a day. I was terrified of Weaning her but it was really so easy. It was more emotional for me than her. Good luck!

My daughter is still breastfeeding. I have been scared to start to wean her because she doesn’t like cows milk, and because she won’t go to sleep without nursing.

My son is till breastfeeding. I tried to stop and give other options, but he refused. If someone knew how we could stop breastfeeding, let me know

@Kenzie doc told me she’s fine as long as she’s eating cheese, yogurt .. so ask next time ? But I was the same way and had to stop cause I’m due Sept 1, needed to stop before baby comes.

@Geovanna easiest way is to let your milk dry up, and just don’t give in, it’s hard but it’s doable.. I offered water in sippy cup at bedtime while I sat in chair with her and it was fine.

My son is 16 months old and uses my breast to sleep. I don't know the correct way to wean him, as he cries a lot and refuses to drink milk or water, only wanting breastfeeding before sleeping. 🥴

Thanks everyone! This really broadened my perspective! We will continue to wean to night feed only and then stop all together. Will let the nature take its course. As of today I stopped pumping during the day so went about 14 hours between sessions. Will see how it goes!

I am so exhausted from BF and wish I would do more self care. I know it is temporary so trying to keep motivated since my baby girl loves it so much. I won’t do cows milk but do cheese, yogurt and tofu. Soy milk is a good alternative but she doesn’t like that either

I’m still breastfeeding. I’ll start weaning after 24 mo or so. She has BM at least twice in the morning before daycare. During her time at daycare: just water and at night she has more BM at lest twice too. I pump during the day to keep a good production to make sure she actually drinks milk. Her food is also rich in nutrients, so we never worried about giving her other type of milk or formula. She had iron testing and she is more than fine 💕 🙌🏼💕

My kiddo is lactose intolerant (diarrhea for days if she has any 🥴). We weaned her and just feed her a balanced diet made up of mostly meat, vegetables, fruit and whole grains and she is doing great. It's been about 2 months. I weaned her at 14 months. She was mostly just having 1 drink through the day and feeding to sleep and waking in the night for the occasional feed. I was so over it. We just went cold turkey and it was hard for about 2 nights because she was upset that there was no milk to sleep and through the night but I felt 2 nights was pretty quick. I enlisted hubby to do all the night settling because I figured I smelled delicious and wouldn't be all that helpful to her. Also, we put a weighted straw water bottle in bed with her in case she is thirsty. She still drinks from that most nights

My son is 16months weaned him completely a few days ago. He will take a bottle of cows milk though but not cold! Also if anyone has some tips on controlling these weanjng hormones send them my way!

@Mary Dal Nogare did you stop producing or do you still pump the milk but not feed to your son?

check this out if you mainly co sleep and are trying to night wean. https://www.drjaygordon.com/blog-detail/sleep-changing-patterns-in-the-family-bed as for the cow milk drinking my girl enjoys a cold cup of A2 whole milk (costco) in a stainless steel cup with a silicone straw about a cup 2-3 times a day when we’re at home
