Reusable Nappies

Anyone planning to or has already started using reusable nappies? We’ve just bought a tonne off FB marketplace and are excited to give them a go but wanted some tips and tricks!

We used reusable nappies (my son is potty trained now). We didn’t use them from birth but from around 7 weeks when my son started fitting in the birth to potty nappies we had.

@Jess amazing okay! We’ve got a pack of free pampers nappy’s that we’re gonna use right when he’s born and then I’m hoping to move him onto muslins if he’s still too small for the nappies we have 💛

We use a mix of reusable and disposable nappies. We've got the little lamb sized pocket nappies and also the more traditional little lamb fluffy bamboo ones which you use with a waterproof shell over the top. Tips- probably obvious but make sure the edges of the nappy are tucked right into the leg crease to avoid leaks, and if your nappies have inserts don't fold them too many times- I did that to begin with and wondered why they kept leaking. When I only folded them in half once then inserted them they didn't leak any more. You've probably already done this too but buy a nappy pail with a tight lid to keep the dirty ones in- ours lives in the garage next to our washing machine. If your washing machine has a prewash function and doesn't then use the same water for the main wash, use that first to get any remaining poop off the fabric before the wash cycle begins.

We also waited until baby was older before using reusable nappies, just because when they're newborn you go through 12+ nappies a day and it was too much to deal with!

@Laura this is all so handy! Thank you
