Anxiety

So I keep having sudden onset of breathlessness, tingling body, needing to fidget, clamminess, shaking and palpitations all lasting seconds, sometimes I even get like a short stabbing pain in my chest . It comes and goes for a while then I feel fine. Most of the time I can't even describe my symptoms after it happens. I've done nothing all day literally just chilled and this happens randomly. Does this happen to anyone else? It always makes me worry I've got something other than anxiety.

Definitely sounds like anxiety or mini anxiety attacks. I'm a therapist and specialise in anxiety. I don't know your background so hard to say, but it seems like your sympathetic nervous system is constantly activated for whatever reason. Anxiety is an emotion and your mind is telling you, you are in danger even though you are not. Small, multiple triggers throughout the day. I suggest trying to activate your parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) as often as possible. To do that, you need to stimulate your vagus nerve. You can do alot of reading or watch videos in how to do that as there are many many techniques and tools. Hummingbird, a big, long yawn, laughter, shaking and many more. Check in with yourself every 15mins to see if you are tense or relaxed, how's your breathing, heart rate etc. If anxious, get yourself into rest and digest. Hope this helps. If that fails, feel free to get in touch if you think therapy sessions can work for you. Good luck!

No advice as I’m the exact same but I honestly could’ve wrote this myself! Ever since my little boy was 3 months I’ve been the same. He’s now 14 months and it’s still ongoing! I’ve been to the doctors, hospital, had tests done on my heart, X-rays, ECGS, bloods… all to make sure I don’t have a serious illness!

@Sophie exactly the same here!! My little boy was 13 months old when it first happened randomly at work then for months it was constant, I couldn't even leave my house. I developed this fear that I was going to die or something was going to happen to me I was even googling survival rates of cardiac arrest cz I'd convinced myself I was going to have one. Eventually I'd got over that and felt loads better to the point the attacks were only happening every so often then I went months with nothing. I quit caffeine which helped. Then recently it's happening again, not alot, but it's still happening. The only thing that stayed from the first ever one to now is I always get breathless or have palpitations. Do you have a trigger that you know of that could have started your attacks? I don't even know why mine started. Never suffered with anxiety in my life before last year! My partner seems to think it could be a build up of all my years of certain life events and stress just exploding xx

@Ghitta one of the first things I tried was therapy as I was reluctant to use medication. I had talking therapy but it wasn't for me. I didn't know what had triggered the attacks so didn't know what to talk about. It was also over the phone and with a 1 year old in the background it was very hard to concentrate anyway lol I'll definitely look up what you've talked about though. I've never heard of that before. Thank you!! X

Ah yes. Not all types of therapy is for everyone. I do talking therapy, like Psychotherapy.. CBT etc but talking therapy is just what you know consciously. That's why I love to work more with the subconscious mind!!! The deep seated stuff we aren't always aware of. I have a passion for it! So I do hypnotherapy and Sanomentology and it is much faster working than talking therapy as you are working directly with the subconscious. On average I do roughly 4 sessions with my anxiety clients. Sometimes it can stretch to 7 and sometimes they only need 2 or 3, but average is 4. And I specialise in anxiety so understand it very well. You can also book a free consultation with me if you like. Rewindyourmind. . Co.Uk
